Cost

EPA (public route): ETH Zurich/EPFL tuition is CHF 1,460/yr, cantonal universities CHF 1,500–4,000/yr, Universities of Applied Sciences CHF 1,500–5,000/yr, living costs CHF 21,000–27,000/yr, and proof of funds ~CHF 21,000/yr. GAC (private/hospitality route): public university tuition is CHF 1,500–4,000/yr, Universities of Applied Sciences CHF 1,500–5,000/yr, private hospitality schools CHF 25,000–40,000/yr, living costs CHF 21,000–27,000/yr, and proof of funds ~CHF 21,000/yr; both brochures estimate monthly cost of living at ~CHF 1,700–2,300.

Language requirements

Programmes are taught in English, German, French or Italian; bachelor's requires IELTS 6.0–6.5 (or a German/French language certificate) and master's requires IELTS 6.5 or language proof, with a strong academic record required for ETH Zurich/EPFL.

Visa

Non-EU students apply for a National (D) visa at the consulate after accepting their offer, must show proof of funds of approximately CHF 21,000/yr, submit documents and biometrics, and register with the canton upon arrival.

Post-study work rights

Students may work 15 hours a week during term time, and graduates get a 6-month job-search stay to find work with the labour-market test waived for Swiss graduates; hospitality programmes (GAC route) build in paid internship placements.
